A detailed description of how processing and fees are charged for assembly work for orders or building inventory for stock.
Custom Assembly, Kitting & Job(s)
If parts need to be assembled ahead of time then an assembly job can be run based on a job recipe that combines one or more input items into one or more output items. For example, assembling a camera kit including a custom box, flash, and lens into a completed kit with a new label on the outside would require a job recipe with 3 inputs creating 1 output with 1 label applied. These recipes are then run in batches called Jobs. Job recipes are quoted on a recipe-by-recipe basis that includes fees per job run, per input, per output, per label applied, and any special assembly time. List pricing for these costs can be found on our website.
Custom Bundles / Order Kit On Demand
When you sell a collection of finished goods as a single SKU ShipCalm can fulfill those orders using a “Kit On Demand” or KOD. A good example of this is selling a “Complete Book Set” that includes 3 different books in a series. Each of these books might be sold separately for $20 but you can buy the 3-pack for $50 on the website. When KODs are set up at ShipCalm these items are not pre-packaged together, but instead just picked as 3 separate items in the example above at the time the order is place. You will be charged the normal picking fee, but it will be for 3 items instead of 1.
