ShipCalm provides boxes & mailers when needed to ship orders, here's how it works.

ShipCalm stocks various packaging supplies to be used for various applications including shipments, assemblies, case packing. ShipCalm selects packaging and charges for that packaging in a variety of ways as outlined below.

Packaging Selection for Shipments

With every shipment ShipCalm makes a “Best Effort” to select the smallest and cheapest box or packaging possible for your orders, however, we do not guarantee that the smallest or cheapest box or mailer possible will be used on every shipment. This is often due to stock-outs at a given packing station, at the facility level or at the packaging supplier level. In addition, what one employee believes “fits” can differ from another employee and certainly differ from a customer’s perspective.

Guaranteed Packaging Selection & Custom Packaging SOP

If it is critical to your business, either because of the cost of freight or because you want to use a box the is designed for your product, there are a few options. You can either have your manufacturer adjust your inventory so that it is shipped to us in an RTS package or you can stock custom packaging in inventory and work with ShipCalm to develop custom cartonization rules if possible or utilized kits on demand (KODs) that will ensure your specific packaging is used on every order that requires it. Keep in mind that both of these methodologies do have some costs associated such as added pick fees or customer software development costs if the logic can’t be applied out of the box. In addition shipcalm only manages the inventory of custom packaging for our managed service level and above. For customers of the essentials package this inventory will need to be managed by the company and the lack of that inventory could result in orders not being fulfillable.
